BP Indigenous Livery

The bp Ultimate Safety Car has shown off a stunning indigenous livery ahead of the Supercars' Indigenous Round at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Designed by TP Race Design using artwork from acclaimed Indigenous artist Les 'Lipwurrunga' Huddleston, the design prominently features elements inspired by the Top End's natural environment and its cultural significance.

"Having the opportunity to create this livery using Les’ artwork has been an honour," expressed Tim Pattinson, of TP Race Design.

"Being given free reign to incorporate Les' incredible artistic vision into the design of the bp Ultimate Safety Car has been a tremendous privilege.

The artwork portrays fish and a billabong, symbolizing the vital life source of the region. The billabong sustains crocodiles, fish, turtles, birds, and other creatures, supporting the interconnectedness of life in the area. The billabong is also essential for Aboriginal people, who rely on it for fishing and survival.

A central circle represents a special meeting place, while Huddleston's personal lines capture the energy and power derived from the vehicles and racetrack.

The bp Ultimate Safety Car's new livery made its first appearance while leading the Night Transporter Convoy on June 14, adding a special element to celebrate First Nations People. The livery will continue to adorn the bp-backed Ford Ranger Raptor during the NTI Townsville 500, coinciding with the start of NAIDOC week on Sunday, July 2.

As part of the annual Supercars' Indigenous Round, all 26 Supercars on the grid for the betr Darwin Triple Crown incorporate designs by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. This initiative serves to honour and celebrate the rich Indigenous culture in Australia.
